Quick Start Guide

1. Recording Your First Expense

• Hold down the red record button

• Speak naturally: "I spent $25 on lunch"

• Release the button to save

• The app will automatically categorize your expense

2. Viewing Your Expenses

• Tap "Recent" to see all transactions

• Tap "Today" or "This Week" for summaries

• Use "Query by Date" for custom date ranges (requires Google Sign-In)

3. Exporting Your Data

• Go to any transaction view

• Tap the export button (📤)

• Choose CSV or PDF format

• Share via email, AirDrop, or save to Files

Q: Why do I need Google Sign-In for date range queries?

A: Google Sign-In is required only for the "Query by Date" feature to ensure secure access to your personal financial data. Your transaction data stays on your device - we don't store it on our servers.

Q: Can I use the app without internet?

A: Yes! All core features work offline. You only need internet for Google Sign-In authentication.

Q: How does the voice recognition work?

A: BudgetAnytime uses Apple's built-in Speech Recognition framework. Your voice is processed on-device and converted to text, then the app parses amounts and categories.

Troubleshooting

🎤 Voice Recognition Not Working

Solutions:

  • Check that Microphone permission is granted in iOS Settings
  • Ensure Speech Recognition permission is enabled
  • Speak clearly and at normal volume
  • Try in a quieter environment
  • Hold the record button firmly until you finish speaking

📱 App Crashes or Freezes

Solutions:

  • Force close and restart the app
  • Restart your iPhone/iPad
  • Update to the latest iOS version
  • Ensure you have sufficient storage space

🔍 Google Sign-In Issues

Solutions:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure you're signed into a valid Google account
  • Try signing out and back in
  • Check that the app has network permissions

📊 Categories Show as "Undefined"

Solutions:

  • Try speaking more clearly and including category words
  • Use specific merchant names: "Starbucks", "Shell", "Walmart"
  • Include category words: "lunch", "gas", "groceries"
  • Manually edit the category after recording
